The problem is that each and every time a person in the United States flushes their toilets they use approximately 1.6 gallons of water. But, it is no longer required to use that much water with each and every flush. The reason that it is no longer required is because there is a new toilet available that is called a dual flush toilet and it is a great thing for houses in the US. This type of toilet handles solid and liquid and wastes by using different levels of flushing to save money and water.
The first place that the dual flush toilet was introduced was Australia. The government made the mandatory there. The primary reason for this was that Australia is a water starved nation and they don't have that much water for their general use requirements. The primary objective of these toilets is to use less water when flushing liquid waste. They work by using a different amount of water when solid and liquid waste is flushed. Solid waste need much more water than liquid waste does.

There are at least two advantages if having these two flushing options in one toilet. The first advantage is that the user will always use the correct amount of water for a particular waste product. The flush will only use the amount of water that is necessary for one kind of waste.
In addition this type of toilet will save the homeowner a considerable amount of money during its lifetime. The reason for these savings is because they will be saving money on their water bill. The dual flush feature of the toilet will only allow the user to use a specific amount of water that will be limited. You simply don't have to use the maximum amount of water each time you use the toilet.
